It provides many of the benefits of an addition but is much less expensive to build because you don't have the expense of foundations, supporting walls, roofing and so on that you have with an addition.
The laundry room in this basement needed a narrow folding table which Ken custom-made. The design is simple, elegant straight lines with nice joinery and finish. Even the most utilitarian furniture can be attractive if done well.
The rest of the basement was a family room, complete with a kitchenette. Ken custom-made the cabinets and countertop and the wrap-around starting tread.
