This renovation was prompted by a water leak that left 60,000 gallons of water in the basement.

From Fearsome to Fabulous

This is what the basement looked like from the foot of the stairs prior to the renovation.

Here is what it looked like with the retaining wall on the other side removed and some of the earth removed as well.

Here is the poured footer. The purpose of this was to have something level and strong on which I could frame a new 2x6 wall with pressure treated studs 12” apart which I then shimmed against the old masonry wall. That will stabilize the wall to keep it from moving any further.

This is the view of the stairs and the door to the storage room.

These custom made cabinet doors hide a storage area.

Now the basement is a beautiful and functional place.
